When I think back on this year dealing with blogs I relized that I’ve learned a lot about many different thing. This year we did a lot of our assignments, dealing with what we read, by using blogs; we would keep track of our thoughts, about the material at hand, as we went along. This also gave us the opportunity to read others thoughts as well, which allowed us to gain a deep understanding of the text. The blogs were kind of our online journals, which allowed us to express our oppions on the verious topics we were assigned. I guess you could say this site was kind of our English class’s myspace, only we can access it at school. I learned how to set up accounts and make my page look interesting to read, and how to add different things into my blog, for example I learned how to add in hyperlinks to other sites, and how to add podcast. I didn’t really know what I was doing at first when it came to these blogs when it came to dealing with anything other than just typing and publishing something. However, once I got into the whole bloging thing and was able to play around with it a little I was able to figure out a lot of the things that make bloging so cool. It also helped me with other sites similer to this one, like myspace, and my SDNGYC (South Dakota National Guard Youth Council) computer things. One of the things that really stands out in my mind when it comes to these blogs is the freedom I feel I have by using it. For some reason to me it makes the assignments feel less formal and more easy going, but in all truth I’m not so sure it has anything so do with the bloging it self. Rather, I think the freedom I feel I can express in my blogs comes from our teacher, Mr. Sheehy, because I believe he wanted us to learn how to write freely, and voice our oppion on things, to put a little bit of us in to our writing. Mr. Sheehy took something from our generation and showed us that we can use the knowledge we gained/earned and apply it to our live. Therefore, not only did he teach us with something we could connect and interact with, he also taught us that learnering and appling what he learned to our life can be fun. Upon looking back on this year I realize that there were days when we were working, that I would forget that I was really doing work.
